Baby and child care

The early months with a baby can be beautiful, unpredictable, and overwhelming all at once. Feeding, sleeping, nappies, growth charts, everything is new, and everything matters. It is easy to second-guess yourself, especially when your baby cannot yet tell you what they need.

That is why a regular baby clinic can offer calm, clear guidance during this new season of life.

What is a baby clinic?

A baby clinic is a space where you can bring your baby for regular health checks, immunisations, and general developmental monitoring. It offers routine support during the most rapid period of growth your child will ever experience.

But it is not just about the baby. It is also supporting you. We will guide you through your questions, instincts, and concerns about rashes, reflux, nappies, or whether your baby is gaining enough weight.

Common reasons parents visit the baby clinic include:

  • Monitoring weight, length, and head growth
  • Keeping up with the national vaccination schedule (and more when needed)
  • Discussing feeding, whether breast and/or formula
  • Tracking sleep, digestion, and behaviour patterns
  • Picking up early signs of allergies, infections, or developmental concerns

What can I expect during my visit?

Appointments are designed to be relaxed and informative. You are encouraged to ask anything. No question is too simple.

Each visit usually includes:

  • A general health check and growth measurements
  • Discussion of any new symptoms or concerns
  • Immunisations (according to the official schedule)
  • Guiding on upcoming developmental milestones

If something requires closer attention, such as a feeding issue or a delayed milestone, Dr Keevé may recommend a follow-up or additional screening.

Why are these checks important?

Babies change fast. In just weeks, their needs evolve. These regular visits help spot potential concerns early and offer reassurance when everything is on track.

You should consider attending if:

  • Your baby is due for routine vaccines
  • You are concerned about growth or feeding
  • Something has changed, fever, rash, fussiness, or vomiting
  • You want to prepare for the next stage, such as introducing solids

How can I prepare for a baby clinic appointment?

Bring your baby’s health record book and a list of any questions you have. If your baby is unwell, it helps to note when symptoms started. Try to arrive a few minutes early if this is your first visit.

A spare nappy and a feed or bottle can also help keep things calm during the check.
