Dermatological Care

Your skin tells you a lot about your health. It can itch, flake and sometimes react without warning. At other times, it signals that something deeper is happening in your body.

Whether your concern is cosmetic, painful, or simply confusing, skin issues can affect your daily life. You see your skin every day. You feel when something is not right. That is why addressing it matters.

Dermatological care can help you find answers and take steps forward.

What counts as a dermatological concern?

Skin problems come in many forms. They can be temporary, continuous, or recur repeatedly. Some may also point to infections, allergies, immune responses, or other health conditions.

Common reasons people seek dermatological care include:

  • Rashes that appear suddenly or spread
  • Eczema or dry, itchy patches
  • Acne that does not respond to over-the-counter treatment
  • Unusual moles or skin growths
  • Fungal infections, such as athlete’s foot or ringworm
  • Warts, skin tags, or other bumps
  • Psoriasis or scaly plaques
  • Hair loss or scalp irritation

Skin issues can affect any part of the body, including your hands, face, scalp, or feet. If it is bothering you, it is worth checking.

What happens during a skin consultation?

A skin consultation begins with a conversation. Dr Keevé will ask you when the issue started, how it has changed, and what makes it better or worse. You may be asked about your family history, medications, allergies, or past skin conditions.

Dr Keevé will:

  • Examine the affected area closely
  • Ask questions about related symptoms (e.g. itching, pain, bleeding, swelling)
  • Consider whether further tests are needed (such as skin swabs, biopsies or blood work)
  • Offer treatment options or refer for specialist input if necessary

Photographs may be taken for record-keeping or to track progress over time.

What can you do at home to support skin health?

In many cases, small changes to your routine can reduce irritation or prevent flare-ups. Consider the following:

  • Use fragrance-free moisturisers and soaps
  • Avoid very hot showers, which can dry the skin
  • Wash your clothing in mild detergents
  • Keep fingernails short to reduce scratching damage
  • Protect your skin from harsh sun exposure
  • Avoid picking or squeezing affected areas

Follow instructions for any creams or medications exactly as given. Some treatments work best over time, not overnight.

When should I book an appointment?

If a skin issue has not improved within a few days, or if it is spreading, painful, or affecting your sleep or confidence, it may be time to speak to your GP. Even small patches or mild symptoms can be signs of something that needs attention.

Early advice often leads to quicker relief. Book an appointment now
